6Space Exploration Balloon — IES La Bisbal School

FOUR SCHOOL CHILDREN SEND BALLOON IN SPACE...A picture of the stratosphere taken by a group of four Spanish schoolboys have managed to send their own meteorological weather balloon to the edge of space and map its progress as it ascended. Building the sensors and radio receivers from scratch, Gerard Marull Paretas, Sergi Saballs Vil, Mart Gasull Morcillo and Jaume Puigmiquel Casamort put their balloon 20 miles up into the stratosphere using a heavy duty latex weather balloon. The experiment is all the more incredible for the spectacular photographs the students took at the edge of space using a 56 Nikon digital camera. Named the Meteotek experiment, the boys hope to send a video camera up for their next experiment, dependent on their university commitments.
